Term-Based Licensing Now Available for Aldec's Leading Cross-Platform Simulator

Aldec’s Riviera dual language simulator now offers term-based and perpetual licenses for different design cycle duration requirements

Henderson Nevada, February 28th, 2002 Aldec, Inc., a leading supplier of HDL design entry and verification tools for application specific integrated circuits (ASICs) and field programmable gate arrays (FPGAs), announced today a new licensing convention available for its Riviera tool. Riviera customers now have the option to purchase the software as an annual, term-based license or as a perpetual, permanent license to better accommodate specific design schedules. The Riviera product is based on Aldec’s core common kernel, providing mixed language and EDIF legacy design simulation to ASIC and high-density FPGA designers.

Reducing Capital Expenditures
Riviera 2002.02 with a term-based licensing option provides world-class verification technology without placing a strain on the project’s budget.

“We are offering term-based licensing for our high-performance ASIC and FPGA verification technology as a direct result of our corporate clients’ requests. Aldec has positioned its price points to help our clients augment their current design methodologies without spending a bundle,” stated Eric Seabrook, Product Marketing Manager for Riviera.

Improved Resource Control
Riviera’s term-based licensing approach allows IT departments to fill the immediate, specific needs of the design teams without compromising performance or quality. Design teams working on very large designs can acquire additional seats of the verification tool without having to incur the traditionally high costs associated with perpetual licenses. Once the term is complete, resources can be re-examined and renewed according to need.

Riviera’s term-based licensing provides companies the latitude to work with the specific software needs of each design project. Another major benefit of the tool is Riviera’s platform independence, allowing for a single seat to be used on UNIX, Linux and NT/2000/XP platforms.

Riviera’s cross-platform capability allows system designers to work on the three most common design platforms without having to switch tools or processes. Riviera’s term-based licensing gives designers the utmost in design flexibility and provides leading simulation run-times for improved design performance.

Licensing Models
Rivera comes standard with a permanent (floating) license that can be used on any of its supported platforms including UNIX, Linux and NT/2000/XP. The license resides on the server and can be accessed by any terminal running on the network. The first year of maintenance and support is included in the product price.

Riviera is also available as a term-based (annual) license and offers the same flexibility as a permanent license without the larger initial cost and commitment. This license can be redeemed for full value within the first 90 days, and one half of its value can be applied toward a permanent license after 90 days. Full maintenance and support is also included with the term-based license.

Availability
Riviera includes a Library Manager, HDL Editor, Waveform Viewer, and the choice of a VHDL, Verilog or mixed simulation kernel. The first year’s maintenance is included in the initial sale price. Riviera is sold directly by Aldec in the U.S. and authorized international distributors.

About Aldec
Aldec, Inc. has offered PC and Workstation-based design entry and simulation solutions to FPGA and ASIC designers for more than 16 years.
